Terms of Use

Last updated: 15 September 2026

These terms cover the NUA Nutrition app and this website. They're written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, just write to me.

Who provides NUA

NUA Nutrition is offered by the person named in the imprint. Contact: anna.gaertner@whu.edu.

NUA is not medical advice

NUA is a general wellbeing and nutrition companion. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian or therapist.

The nutrient values and reference figures in the app come from published sources, the German Federal Food Code (BLS 4.0, Max Rubner-Institut) and the DGE/DACH reference values for adults, and are general orientation figures, not personal recommendations. Individual needs vary, and only a professional who knows you can advise on yours.

Please talk to a healthcare professional before making significant changes to how you eat, and especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18, live with a chronic condition, take medication, or are in treatment or recovery for an eating disorder. NUA deliberately does not cover pregnancy and breastfeeding, because different reference values apply and that belongs with a doctor.

If you are in crisis or need urgent help, contact your local emergency services or a specialist helpline. In Germany, the BIÖG information line on eating disorders is there on 0221 892031 (essstoerungen.bioeg.de).

Who can use it

NUA is intended for people aged 18 and over. It is not designed or offered for children.

Your content and your data

Everything you log is kept on your device. You own it entirely. I never store it anywhere, so I cannot recover it for you if your device is lost or the app is deleted — please rely on your normal device backups or the app's "Save a copy" file. The privacy policy explains what the optional AI features send for a single answer, and all the rest, in detail.

Estimates and accuracy

Nutrition figures in NUA are estimates. Portions are approximate, photo recognition is approximate, and database entries describe typical foods rather than the specific one on your plate. The app marks estimates as estimates wherever it can. Please treat every figure as an orientation, never as a measurement.

Fair use

You may use NUA for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app, or use it in a way that breaks the law. The app, its design, text and artwork remain the property of the provider; the underlying nutrition data belongs to its respective sources and is credited in the app.

Availability and changes

NUA is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of faults. The app may change over time as it improves. Where a change materially affects these terms, the updated version will appear here.

Liability

Liability is limited to intent and gross negligence. For slight negligence, liability applies only to the breach of an essential contractual obligation, and is limited to typical, foreseeable damage. Liability for injury to life, body or health, and liability under the German Product Liability Act, remain unaffected. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

App Store

If you obtained NUA through Apple's App Store, Apple's own terms also apply to that download, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

Governing law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
